The number of participants in the non-banking financial market in January 2026 decreased by six companies - to 769, the number of banks in January was 60.
This is stated in the report of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In January, the licenses of four institutions were revoked at the initiative of the applicant: three financial companies and a credit union. The licenses of one financial company and a pawnshop were forcibly revoked. The NBU also suspended/restricted the license of a credit union and changed the scope of the license for the type of financial services activity (expanding the scope of the license) for one risk insurer.
Six non-bank financial institutions were excluded from the registers. In particular, one credit union was excluded at the initiative of the applicant. Four financial companies and one pawnshop were forcibly removed from the registers. One collector was denied inclusion in the registers.
As of February 1, 2026, 407 financial companies (there were 411), 47 non-life insurers (the number has not changed), 10 life insurers (the number has not changed), one insurer with a special status, 100 pawnshops (there were 101), 84 credit unions (there were 85), one lessor (the number has not changed), 45 insurance brokers (the number has not changed), and 74 collection companies (the number has not changed) operated in the non-banking financial services market.
The number of banking groups has not changed (15). The number of non-bank financial groups decreased by one in January (40).
There are 15 payment systems in the payment market created by residents, including state-owned ones (the number has not changed) and 10 international ones (the number has not changed).
At the same time, 16 payment institutions (the number has not changed), 12 financial institutions authorized to provide payment services (the number has not changed), one bank issuing electronic money (the number has not changed), and one postal operator (the number has not changed) operate in the market of financial payment service providers.
Other entities operating in the payment market include 69 commercial agents (66 in January) and 32 payment service technology operators (the number has not changed).
In January, the NBU received 183 requests from market participants for registration and licensing actions. The number of inquiries concerning financial companies, pawnshops and lessors amounted to 102, insurers - 50, credit unions and collection companies - 6, banks - 25.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the number of non-banking financial market participants in December 2025 decreased by 6 institutions to 775, the number of banks last year was 61 (UTE Bank was created by the DGF).
