US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead a large U.S. delegation to the Munich Security Conference, which begins on Friday, February 13. It was reported by Reuters on Monday, February 9.
The chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger, noted that more than 50 members of the US Congress are expected to attend. Rubio is expected to speak on Saturday, February 14. Ischinger also believes that Rubio will talk about US foreign policy
"At the moment, transatlantic relations are, in my view, in a considerable crisis of trust and credibility. That is why it is particularly gratifying that the American side is showing such strong interest in Munich," Ischinger said at a press conference in Berlin.
Fifteen prime ministers and heads of state from the European Union will also take part in the conference. This year's Munich Security Conference will be opened by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The event will run from Friday to Sunday.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 5, US President Donald Trump named Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as his possible successors, refused to single out one of them.
