The United States allegedly did not set any deadline for the conclusion of a peace agreement between Ukraine and the aggressor country russia. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States wants the agreement to be signed in June.
According to The Guardian, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated this.
"Whitaker says “that June deadline was mentioned by president Zelenskyy,” and adds “I don’t think that is anything that the United States has put out there,” the article said.
According to him, the United States wants the fighting to stop as soon as possible, for Ukraine and russia to get together and agree on a peace deal. Washington wants a peace agreement to be concluded "sooner rather than later."
Whitaker added that discussing any timeframe in this situation is "very dangerous."
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 7, President Zelenskyy said that the United States had offered Ukraine and russia to conclude a peace agreement by early summer. He also suggested that for this purpose, Washington might resort to diplomatic pressure on Kyiv.
The day before, the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) wrote that russia does not intend to change its plans and will continue to demand Ukraine's diplomatic and military surrender
