President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the launch of new solutions to speed up the restoration of electricity and heat supply after russian attacks. These include the creation of special consolidated teams of the State Emergency Service to help power engineers on the ground, as well as a program to support the population with "heat packages."
He said this in a video message on February 8.
Zelenskyy stressed that the state is using all available resources to stabilize the situation in the regions as soon as possible.
"Today was almost entirely devoted to the restoration of our regions: the necessary forces of communities, utilities, energy companies are involved everywhere. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine - in addition to the real assistance already provided in all regions - is also forming reserve forces. These are consolidated energy groups that will be able to be quickly connected in addition to the existing forces," the President said.
According to him, the new SESU units will work as a mobile reserve and will go to those areas where local brigades cannot keep up with the restoration of networks after shelling. This should be an additional reinforcement for power engineers and utilities.
The President paid special attention to the situation in Kyiv, where the restoration work remains the most extensive. Large state-owned companies are also involved in the elimination of the consequences of the attacks.
In particular, the number of repair teams of Ukrzaliznytsia in the capital will be increased from 40 to 60, and Naftogaz is sending additional teams to stabilize heat supply.
At the same time, the government is deploying social support for people who are left without electricity and heat. There are more than 200 heating stations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv, which have received about 9 thousand people in just one day. There is a wide network of such points across the country
In addition, 40,000 so-called "heat packs" have already been distributed in the most problematic areas over the week - sets with heating means and basic needs during power outages.
The President thanked all the services that work continuously throughout the country - from the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions to the Lviv and Odesa Regions. He also noted the work of power engineers and utilities of Kherson and Mykolaiv, who are restoring networks in particularly difficult conditions.
As a reminder, mobile fire groups will become more effective - the President has set deadlines for strengthening the sky protection system.
