Trump to convene Peace Council for first time - media

The White House plans to hold a meeting of the "Peace Council" on Gaza on February 19 in Washington, D.C., during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States.

ITV Channel 12 and the Axios portal reported this, citing a senior American official and diplomats representing the four member countries of the council.

According to the media, the White House intends to discuss the first results of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip at this meeting, as well as raise funds for the restoration of the enclave.

As previously reported, the summit will take place during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington, but it is not yet clear whether he will participate in it. According to plans, he will stay in the United States from February 18 to 22.

"This will be the first meeting of the Peace Council, as well as a fundraising conference for the reconstruction of Gaza," the official said.

Plans for the summit are in the early stages and could change.

The Peace Council, chaired by US President Donald Trump, currently has 27 members.

The UN Security Council has authorized the new representative body to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as well as work on the formation of a new government and the reconstruction of the Strip.
