Russia has rejected the US proposal to transfer full control of the Zaporizhzhia NPP as part of a potential peace agreement.
This was announced by Reuters, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to Reuters, the American plan provided that the US would manage the plant, in particular, the distribution of electricity between Ukraine and russia. However, russia refused such a proposal.
At the same time, the russian federation insists on independently controlling the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
The Kremlin says that in this way Ukraine would receive electricity at low prices.
"Moscow insists that it controls the plant and is ready to sell electricity to Ukraine at low prices. Official Kyiv does not agree to this," the agency stated.
Reuters, citing sources, claims that control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP is one of the most controversial issues in the negotiations.
Both sides demonstrate a principled position: russia does not want to give in, and Ukraine does not accept any form of joint management.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 4, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov said that the talks that day in Abu Dhabi were meaningful and productive, "with an orientation towards specific steps."
