The Kyiv Regional Military Administration denies that Pavlo Loiko, an 82-year-old cameraman at the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Feature Film Studio, died of cold and hunger in Vorzel. This is stated in the message of the the Kyiv Regional Military Administration on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Pavlo Mykhailovych died on February 4, 2026, in his own home. His death was not due to hypothermia or lack of food. An autopsy was performed on February 5. According to the medical certificate of death, the cause of death was "chronic ischemic heart disease". There were no signs of hypothermia," the report says.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration also reports that social services have analyzed the circumstances. According to neighbors, in recent years, Loiko and his wife led a reclusive lifestyle, almost no contact with others.
It is noted that the house in which he lived was warm, with stove heating, gasified, electricity was provided according to hourly shutdown schedules, like everyone else's, and his pension was transferred to his bank account on time every month. It is also noted that the wife of the deceased was registered as a single elderly person.
The regional administration reports that currently about 46,000 lonely and vulnerable people receive social services in the region, 10,039 people with limited mobility receive the social service "home care" and are served in territorial centers and centers for the provision of social services every day.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Svitlana Poklad, a neighbor of the family and the widow of composer Ihor Poklad, confirmed, that Ukrainian cameraman Pavlo Loiko died at the age of 83 in Vorzel, Kyiv Region, and that he and his wife had been left without enough food and in a cold apartment for the past few weeks.
Pavlo Loiko was born on July 8, 1943, and for many years worked at the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio, making a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema. In particular, he participated in the creation of a number of well-known films, including The Lost Letter (1972).
Since the 1990s, Loiko has lived in the village of Vorzel, Kyiv Region.
