Cabinet of Ministers removes memorial site where Pereiaslav Rada took place from register of monuments of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has removed the memorable place where the Pereiaslav Rada took place in the Kyiv Region from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. This is stated in Decree No. 152 of February 5, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decides: to amend the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine by removing a cultural heritage monument of national importance according to the list attached," the decree says.

The decree also refers to the memorial site where the Pereiaslav Rada took place in the Kyiv region.

The Pereiaslav Rada was a general military council convened by Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi in Pereiaslav on January 8 (18), 1654, one of the episodes in the process of formalizing the Ukrainian-moscow military-political alliance.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April 2024, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy acknowledged, that the former Friendship of Peoples Arch in Kyiv is not a monument and can therefore be dismantled, and then the composition in honor of the Pereiaslav Rada near the arch was dismantled.

In July 2022, a monument to the 300th anniversary of Ukraine's reunification with russia was demolished in Pereiaslav, Kyiv Region.
