Ukrainian guerrillas have found out that the russian occupiers are abandoning Starlink terminals after blocking them, but attempts to deploy backup communication channels are failing. A case of "friendly fire" was also recorded.

It was reported by the ATESH guerrilla movement.

According to sources from the 122nd motorized rifle regiment (Kupiansk axis) and the 1152nd regiment (Zaporizhzhia axis), the command and control of russian troops is actually paralyzed.

In particular, the occupiers' units are experiencing an almost complete failure of Starlink terminals, and russian signalmen are desperate:

  • attempts to deploy backup communication channels are failing one after another
  • russian electronic warfare equipment regularly jams even their own radios.

"Without stable communication, chaos begins at the front line. Lack of coordination is already leading to heavy losses - and not only from the enemy. On the Zaporizhzhia axis, a typical case of "friendly fire" occurred due to a complete breakdown in communication," the statement said

It is noted that the units, without any information about each other, opened fire on their own. As a result, the assault group of 12 people was completely destroyed by their own forces.

"The Russian army's dependence on civilian technology has played against it. As soon as the connection is lost, the control falls apart, and the troops begin to destroy themselves," the guerrillas summarized.

On January 29, Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said, that the Ministry, together with the American company SpaceX, was working to eliminate the possibility of using Starlink terminals on the drones of the russian occupiers.

Already on January 30, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated that he was "happy to help" the Ukrainian side in solving this problem. And on February 1, he said that the measures taken by the company to stop the use of Starlink on Russian drones "have worked."

It has become known that the Russian occupation army reduced the number of attacks at the front after SpaceX blocked unregistered Starlink satellite terminals.
