International reserves increase by 0.7% to record USD 57.7 billion in January

Ukraine's international reserves as of February 1, 2026, according to preliminary data, amounted to USD 57,660.3 million, which is the highest figure in the history of independent Ukraine

This is stated in the report of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In January, they increased by USD 357.8 million compared to the previous month, primarily due to external financing, which largely offset the net sale of currency by the National Bank and the country's debt payments in foreign currency.

In general, the dynamics of reserves in January 2026 was determined by a number of factors.

First, revenues to the government and payments for servicing and repaying public debt.

The government's foreign currency accounts at the NBU received USD 3,124.0 million through the accounts of the World Bank.

The Government of Ukraine paid USD 310.7 million for servicing and repayment of the public debt in foreign currency, of which:

USD 233.9 million – servicing and repayment of government foreign loan bonds;

USD 76.8 million - payments to other creditors.

In addition, Ukraine paid USD 171.6 million to the International Monetary Fund.

Second, the NBU's operations in the foreign exchange market of Ukraine.

In January 2026, compared to December 2025, the National Bank's net sale of foreign exchange decreased by 20.7%. According to balance sheet data, the NBU sold USD 3,729.5 million on the foreign exchange market.

Third, the revaluation of financial instruments (due to changes in market values and exchange rates).

In January, the value of financial instruments increased by USD 1,445.7 million due to revaluation.
