Indian oil refiners continue to reduce imports of russian oil. In January, supplies of "black gold" from the aggressor country of russia decreased compared to December 2025.

This was reported by Reuters with reference to its own sources.

The agency's unnamed interlocutors said that in January, Indian companies imported 1.215 million barrels of russian oil per day. Of these, 0.41 million barrels per day fell on Nayara, 0.58 million barrels per day on Indian Oil Corporation and another 0.19 million barrels per day on Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL).

At the same time, the Indian holding company Reliance Industries did not import russian oil in January. This is evidenced by preliminary data from the analytical company Kpler.

India's imports of russian oil in January fell by about 12% compared to December 2025. And in December, oil imports from russia decreased by 22% compared to November.

Reuters writes that although it is currently unclear to what extent India will ultimately reduce imports of russian oil, any further reductions will make it increasingly difficult and expensive for Moscow to find alternative buyers.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 2, US President Donald Trump said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had allegedly assured him that New Delhi would no longer buy russian oil.

Recall, on January 27, Indian Minister of Natural Gas and Petroleum Hardeep Puri said that New Delhi would continue to reduce purchases of russian oil.
