The total public (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine in 2025 increased by 28%, or USD 47.27 billion, to USD 213.33 billion compared to the previous year.
This is stated in the data of the Ministry of Finance, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The public and state-guaranteed debt at the end of December 2025 amounted to UAH 9,042.68 billion, or USD 213.33 billion, compared to UAH 8,616.54 billion, or USD 204.22 billion, a month earlier.
The total amount of direct public debt as of the reporting date amounted to UAH 8,766 billion (USD 206.8 billion) compared to UAH 8,329.25 billion (USD 197.41 billion) a month earlier.
At the same time, direct external debt increased from USD 152.14 billion to USD 160.39 billion per month.
Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnia equivalent from UAH 1,910.04 billion to UAH 1,967.21 billion (in dollar equivalent it increased from USD 45.27 billion to USD 46.41 billion).
State-guaranteed debt at the end of the reporting period amounted to UAH 276.68 billion, or USD 6.53 billion.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, Ukraine's total state (direct and guaranteed) debt increased by 14.27%, or USD 20.74 billion, to USD 166.06 billion.
In 2023, Ukraine's total public (direct and guaranteed) debt increased by 30.4%, or USD 33.87 billion, to a record USD 145.32 billion.
In 2022, total public debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.
In 2021, public debt increased by 8.52%, or USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.
In 2020, total public debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
