Only 20% of Ukrainians believe that the war will end soon, while almost two-thirds believe that the war will last until 2027 or longer. This is according to the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

Respondents were asked when they thought the war might end, with four options.

Only 4% of respondents chose the option of ending the war in the next few weeks. Another 16% believe that the end of the war should be expected in the first half of 2026.

Another 18% of respondents said that the war will end no earlier than in the second half of 2026. Less optimistic were 43% of respondents, who said that the war would end in 2027 or later.

Compared to December 2025, when KIIS conducted a similar survey, the share of those who believe in the end of the war after 2027 has increased.
