The Ukrainian State Film Agency has disclosed information about who owns the rights to the film Prayer for Hetman Mazepa. New Version", as well as the amount of budget funds spent on its creation. This is stated in the Agency's response to the request of the Ukrainian News agency.

The State Film Agency noted that they do not have information on whether the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine was the customer for the production of the feature film directed by Yurii Illienko "Prayer for Hetman Mazepa" and do not know how much budget funds were spent on its creation.

"There is no information about the amount of funds allocated from the State Budget of Ukraine for the production and creation of the said film, as well as the amount of funds returned to the State Budget of Ukraine from theatrical distribution," the letter says.

But it was reported that in 2008, the State Film Agency transferred the rights to the film to a private organization, Ilienko Film LLC, which created a new version of the film.

"In 2008, the Film Studio created a new version of the full-length color feature film Prayer for Hetman Mazepa, produced by the Dovzhenko National Film Studio, directed by Yurii Illienko," the State Film Agency said.

At the same time, funds were allocated from the state budget of Ukraine to create a new version of the film.

"UAH 50,000.00 was allocated from the State Budget of Ukraine to create this version," the State Film Agency said.

In 2008, the average dollar exchange rate was UAH 4.6 (excluding the second half of December, when it rose sharply to 9.8 and then dropped to 7.5), and thus approximately USD 11,000 were allocated from the Ukrainian budget for film production, which is the equivalent of UAH 474,559 at today's exchange rate.

As previously reported, in January of this year, the State Film Agency of Ukraine banned the screening of the film "Prayer for Hetman Mazepa. New version". The press service of the State Film Agency reported at the time that the ban was based on scenes and content that, in their opinion, contradicted the norms of Ukrainian legislation and could have a negative impact on viewers.

At the same time, the Ministry of Culture does not know who owns the rights to show the banned film about Mazepa, which was made for budgetary funds.
