Russia increases oil exports to Georgia by 2000% - media

Russia supplied 225,300 tons of oil to Georgia in 2025, which is more than 21 times or 2045% more than in 2024 (10,500 tons).

It was reported by RIA Novosti, a russian propaganda agency that analyzed data from Georgian customs and the Comtrade platform. In monetary terms, russian oil supplies to Georgia increased 16-fold to a record USD 95.8 million, according to the statistics.

Russia supplied most of the raw materials to Georgia in October - 99,000 tons of oil worth USD 46.7 million. In December, according to the figures studied, the volume of purchases amounted to 91,700 tons for USD 35.8 million.

The maximum figure for supplies before that was in 2016, when Georgia imported 39,600 tons of russian oil for USD 10.8 million. In 2025, Georgian companies also purchased oil from Azerbaijan in two batches of 2,000 tons for USD 1.8 million.

Last year, Russneft exported 105,000 tons of oil for a new oil refinery in Georgia, which started operating in October 2025, a Reuters source reported.

The refinery, which has a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year, is owned by the private company Black Sea Petroleum. By the end of 2028, the refinery is expected to be fully operational to process crude oil and petroleum products for supply to local and foreign markets.

Last year, the total trade turnover between russia and Georgia increased by 6.3%.
