High Anti-Corruption Court released ex-head of State Border Service on bail of UAH 10 million

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has applied preventive measures in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 10 million and UAH 2 million, respectively, to the former head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko and the former head of one of the departments of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine checkpoint.

This decision was made by a judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Deineko is assigned procedural duties:

- to appear before the investigator, prosecutor and court upon first request;

ADVERTISING

- not to leave the territory of Ukraine without the permission of the investigator, prosecutor or court;

- to notify the investigator, prosecutor and court of a change in his place of residence and work;

- to refrain from communicating with the persons specified in the ruling of the investigating judge;

- to deposit with the relevant state authorities their passport(s) for travel abroad, other documents giving the right to leave Ukraine and enter Ukraine.

ADVERTISING

The term of the duties imposed on the suspects by the investigating judge is until March 30, 2026.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, NABU and SAPO have exposed the former head of the State Border Guard Service Serhii Deineko and a current official of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in systematically receiving illegal benefits for facilitating the unhindered crossing of the state border for the smuggling of cigarettes from Ukraine to the EU.
