Due to numerous attacks by the russian army on critical infrastructure facilities in certain districts of Kyiv, serious accidents have been recorded in the sewage networks of residential buildings. In this regard, the Kyiv City Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine officially appealed to the municipal services of the capital with a demand to take urgent measures. This was reported on the institution's Facebook.
The Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Kyiv, Serhii Chumak, stressed the importance of prompt restoration of sewage systems to preserve the health of residents.
The Center emphasizes that damage to networks not only disrupts normal life, but also creates a real threat to the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the city. In his letter, Serhii Chumak noted that such situations can lead to the emergence and spread of dangerous infectious diseases. That is why experts insist on the immediate elimination of accidents and providing people with temporary sanitary and technical means, in particular, dry toilets, for the entire period of repair work.
In addition to technical measures, municipal services are recommended to actively inform Kyiv residents about the rules of personal hygiene and safe behavior in conditions of limited sewerage operation. The Central Committee for the Prevention of Sewerage and Sewerage adds that implementing these tips is part of a comprehensive response to man-made emergencies, which is especially important in conditions of martial law.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, half a million residents of the Troyeshchyna district in Kyiv may be left without water due to freezing water supply and sewerage pipes. In this case, Kyiv residents will be offered temporary toilets on the street.
Kyivvodokanal assured that the sewerage will not freeze and cesspools in Kyiv courtyards will not be needed.
