The SSU Cyber Security Department systematically protects Ukraine's information and digital security in times of war. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, the SSU specialists have neutralized more than 14,000 large-scale cyberattacks and cyber incidents on the resources of central authorities and critical infrastructure of our country.
The head of the SSU Cyber Security Department Volodymyr Karasteliov stated this in the documentary film "Ukraine's Cyber Shield", the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The CSD is confronting the enemy on several fronts simultaneously. Firstly, it is countering specialized units of the Russian Federation, as well as related hacker groups. They regularly attack Ukraine, and during the full-scale invasion, the SSU has repelled more than 14,000 such attempts. Secondly, we are actively countering the enemy in the information environment, where we neutralize the so-called IPSO, which Russia is actively conducting against both Ukraine and partner states," noted Volodymyr Karasteliov.
According to the Head of the Cyber Security Department, in 2025, the Service's cyber specialists repelled more than 3,000 hostile cyberattacks on Ukrainian systems. It was found that the vast majority of russian attacks were aimed at either destroying digital services or destabilizing the work of strategically important enterprises in the energy, transport and defense sectors.
In the documentary "Ukraine's Cyber Shield", SSU experts revealed how they manage to counteract the enemy's penetration and blocking of important military and government networks, repel DDoS attacks, phishing campaigns, and counteract cyber espionage and digital terrorism.
"It is important that we do not only defend ourselves. The SSU and our colleagues from the Defense Forces conduct systematic proactive operations in the hostile digital space. Ukraine is hitting the enemy very hard, but we cannot disclose details about this at this time. It is important to know that the SSU CSD is doing everything to protect the information and digital space of our country," Volodymyr Karasteliov summarized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reporte, thousands of cyberattacks are carried out on Ukrainian state resources every month.
