In order to stabilize the situation in the power system and to implement the government's decision, the Naftogaz Group increased electricity imports from Europe last week.

This is stated in the message of the Naftogaz of Ukraine group, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The volumes of imported electricity purchases already cover more than 50% of the needs of all the Group's enterprises, as provided for by the government decree. The corresponding amount of electricity has been released for the needs of household consumers," said Serhii Koretskyi, the Chairman of the Board of the Naftogaz of Ukraine.

The statement said that the Naftogaz Group is coordinating its actions with the government to stabilize the situation in the energy system as soon as possible after the russian shelling.

Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote on his Facebook page that due to the introduction of an emergency situation, state-owned companies, primarily the Ukrzaliznytsia and the Naftogaz of Ukraine, should urgently ensure the purchase of imported electricity during the autumn-winter period of 2025/2026 in the amount of at least 50% of total consumption.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ukrzaliznytsia JSC has started importing electricity to unload the Ukrainian power system and plans to import about 50% of electricity from total consumption.
