US President Donald Trump said during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that he is to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today and that russian dictator vladimir putin wants to conclude a peace deal. Trump's words were reported by Reuters on Wednesday, January 21.

Trump spoke about his efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The US president also mentioned mediation between Zelenskyy and putin.

"I'm dealing with President Putin and he wants to make a deal, I believe. I'm dealing with President Zelensky, and I think he wants to make a deal. I'm meeting him today, and he might be in the audience right now," Trump said.

He also repeated a familiar claim that the war would not have happened if he had been president at the time, reiterating that the 2020 US elections were "rigged." At the same time, Trump said that Europe should work on Ukraine, not the United States. According to him, the United States is too far away: "We are separated by a big, beautiful ocean. We have nothing to do with it," the US president said.
