Water supply restored in Kyiv, gradual supply of heat to apartments planned in morning - Shmyhal

The liquidation of the consequences of the massive shelling by the russian occupation army continues in Kyiv. As of Tuesday evening, January 20, the water supply in the capital was fully restored.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal announced this on his official Telegram channel.

"Water supply has been restored in Kyiv. The system is gaining the necessary parameters, but there are still areas with low pressure. Due to the shelling, water infrastructure facilities were de-energized," Shmyhal wrote.

The power supply situation in Kyiv remains difficult. Power brigades are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack, the work continues uninterrupted.

Shmyhal added that the authorities are now analyzing how much electricity can be additionally released to redirect it to household consumers. All possible facilities were instructed to switch to generators.

According to the Minister, the capital has already received 49 generators out of 55 planned, which were previously allocated from the reserve of the Ministry of Energy.

Four thousand apartment buildings are still without heat. It is planned to start heating boilers in the boiler houses overnight to start gradually supplying heat to the apartments in the morning.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than a million consumers in Kyiv were without electricity remain without electricity.

As a reminder, in the coming days, Ukraine expects to receive energy aid packages from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Azerbaijan and Ireland. They include generators, transformers and other necessary equipment.
