It is not yet possible to completely abandon emergency power outages in Kyiv and the region due to the continued deficit in the power system.
This was announced by the First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
"The situation remains difficult, we are working on specific and systemic solutions," said Denys Shmyhal following the meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of Consequences of Emergency Situations in Kyiv and the region.
According to him, the deficit of capacities in the power system of the capital and the region currently persists. The government has identified the development of distributed generation in Kyiv as one of its key tasks.
"The strategic task is a plan for the development of the city's distributed generation. We must reach additional capacities of over 100 MW. This will make the capital more resistant to attacks," the government official emphasized.
The Ministry is also working on eliminating permitting and bureaucratic obstacles in order to accelerate the installation of cogeneration units and modular boiler houses. In parallel, work is underway around the clock to restore heat supply - two repair teams are involved at certain facilities at the same time.
According to the Ministry of Development, 60 additional teams have been involved to eliminate accidents in the capital: 40 were provided by Ukrzaliznytsia, another 18 arrived from other regions, in particular 13 from the Kyiv Region. Specialists from Kyivteploenergo are also involved in the work. On Tuesday, January 20, three more teams are expected to arrive from Lviv.
"I am grateful to the energy workers, utility workers and rescuers who, in extremely difficult conditions, are returning comfort to the homes of Ukrainians," Denys Shmyhal concluded.
We remind you that the aggressor country of russia is preparing another massive attack against energy infrastructure with possible strikes on facilities and networks serving Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
