Danish government officials will skip the World Economic Forum in Davos amid the escalating situation over Greenland, Bloomberg reported on Monday, January 19.

Danish officials have decided not to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos this week amid the escalating dispute over Greenland, saying the claim to the island would undermine transatlantic relations.

"This year, representatives of the Danish government were invited, and any decisions on participation are a matter for the respective government. We can confirm that the Danish government will not be represented in Davos this week," the Forum said in a statement to Bloomberg.

As a reminder, French Finance Minister Roland Lescure said that he would convene a meeting of his colleagues from the G7 countries "in the coming days" to discuss trade and sovereignty issues after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional tariffs if the US did not allow the purchase of Greenland.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 19, US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent reacted to Washington's comparison of statements regarding Greenland with russia's annexation of Crimea, stating that such analogies are incorrect.

On January 14, US President Donald Trump said that Greenland is necessary for the United States for the Golden Dome.

On January 13, Prime Minister Jens-Friedrich Nielsen said that Greenland does not want to be part of the US.
