Only 17% of Americans in five approve of President Donald Trump's efforts to acquire Greenland, and large majorities of Democrats and Republicans oppose the use of military force to annex the island, a Reuters/Ipsos poll has found.
The two-day poll showed widespread concern over Trump's threats against Greenland, which he has made to NATO ally Denmark. The publication noted that Greenland has been Danish territory for centuries.
About 47% of respondents to the Reuters/Ipsos poll disapproved of the United States' intentions to acquire Greenland. At the same time, 35% of respondents said they could not decide on their attitude to the issue.

About one in five respondents admitted that they had not heard anything about the US plans to acquire Greenland.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 14, US President Donald Trump said that Greenland is necessary for the United States for the Golden Dome.
On January 13, Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said that Greenland does not want to be part of the United States.
As a reminder, NATO countries are considering the possibility of launching a separate joint mission to monitor and ensure security in the Arctic region, in particular around Greenland.
