The Chinese military conducted an exercise during which they practiced the operation to "decapitate" the leadership of a conventional enemy.

It was reported by the Nikkei Asia news portal.

According to the publication, the maneuver scenario largely echoes the recent US special operation in Venezuela, which resulted in the capture of Nicolas Maduro, and can be seen as a demonstration of Beijing's ability to carry out similar actions in Taiwan.

Footage published by China Central Television shows that the training began with reconnaissance using a military drone, which identified the building where the enemy was supposed to be located.

After that, a quick raid by a special forces unit was conducted at night. The soldiers used military-style crossbows to silently bypass the guard posts and eliminate four mock terrorists. The entire simulated assault took less than two minutes

The capture of Maduro was carried out by Delta Force with the support of the 160th Special Aviation Regiment of the US Army. The operation was carried out without losses among the US military.

Beijing is now seeking to show that the People's Liberation Army of China is capable of conducting special operations of similar complexity and speed. In addition, the maneuvers can be addressed directly to the administration of Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te, Nikkei Asia writes.

At the end of 2025, Chinese troops were already surrounding the island as part of large-scale military exercises. At the time, as Nikkei Asia recalls, Chinese media reported that the Chinese armed forces were practicing "simulated attacks on key targets."

And in 2015, CCTV showed a drill at a training base in Inner Mongolia that used a building that looked remarkably like Taiwan's presidential palace.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured on the night of January 3 by the US Delta Force and taken to the United States, where they were charged with "narco-terrorism," illegal possession of weapons, and drug smuggling.
