In January-November 2025, the share of transactions carried out abroad using payment cards of Ukrainian issuers amounted to 8.4% of the total number and 10% of the total amount of all transactions carried out using payment cards of Ukrainian issuers.
This was reported to Ukrainian News Agency by the NBU.
In 2024, the share of such transactions was 8.2% and 9.9%, respectively.
The process of submitting information for December 2025 by payment card market participants is still ongoing.
In 2024, almost 710 million transactions were made outside Ukraine using payment cards of Ukrainian issuers (of which 347 million were made in physical payment devices and 363 million were made online), and during January-November 2025 – 724 million transactions (of which 349 million were made in physical payment devices and 375 million were made online).
The average amount of a transaction abroad using payment cards in January-November 2025 was UAH 889. Payment market participants, in accordance with Rules No. 140, do not submit statistical information to the regulator on the amount of each payment card transaction, so there is currently no information on the smallest/largest transaction amount.
Payment market participants, in accordance with Rules No. 140, do not submit to the regulator statistical information on the location of payment cards or their number by territory of transaction (in Ukraine and/or abroad).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, from June 1, 2025, new restrictions on card money transfers came into force in Ukraine.
For medium and low-risk clients, the monthly limit has been reduced from UAH 150,000 to UAH 100,000 per month.
High-risk clients will be able to transfer up to UAH 50,000 per month, the limit does not change.
