The United States is moving one of its aircraft carrier groups from the South China Sea to the Middle East. This is happening amid reports that the US military may attack Iran.
The American news channel NewsNation reported this, citing its own sources.
An unnamed source told the channel that the transfer of the naval formation, which includes an aircraft carrier and, probably, a submarine, will take about a week. It is reported that the formation is led by the aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln".
The aircraft carrier group is moving to the area of responsibility of the US Central Command, which includes Northeast Africa, the Middle East, Central and South Asia.
The transfer of the air group takes place against the backdrop of large-scale anti-government protests in Iran and information that the US may intervene and provide support to the protesters.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 14, Reuters wrote, citing its own sources, that the US may launch a military operation against Iran within the next 24 hours.
It also became known yesterday that the US is evacuating some personnel from the Al-Udeidah air base in Qatar. Such measures were used before the strikes on Iran in June 2025.
Last Tuesday, January 13, US President Donald Trump called on Iranians to continue protests and seize government buildings. According to him, help is already on the way.
