Drones hit three Greek oil tankers in the Black Sea, which were on their way to load oil to the coast of the aggressor country russia. Reuters reported this on Tuesday, January 13, citing knowledgeable sources.

The newspaper writes that two Suezmax tankers and an Aframax tanker were hit on their way to the Yuzhnaya Ozerovka terminal. According to eight sources, this particular terminal has become a loading point for about 80% of Kazakhstan's oil destined for international markets.

"Three Greek-managed oil tankers were hit by unidentified drones in the Black Sea on Tuesday as they were on their way to load crude at a terminal on Russia's coast that serves as the main export point for Kazakh oil," the article says.

The attacks come as oil production in Kazakhstan, which exports most of its crude through the terminal, suffered a disaster in early January.

Kazakhstan's oil and gas condensate production fell 35% between January 1 and January 12 compared to the December average, a source told Reuters. The drop was mainly due to export restrictions at the Black Sea terminal.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the UK government is preparing a legal framework that will allow London to detain civilian vessels that are part of the so-called "shadow fleet."

On January 9, the US military detained the Olina tanker in the Caribbean Sea. The vessel has been under US sanctions since January 2024.

We also wrote that from December 10 to January 7, the United States detained four tankers, three of which were under sanctions.
