In 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine decreased their own personnel losses by 13% and reduced the enemy russian army by more than 418,000 people killed and wounded. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"During 2025, we managed to reduce the number of our own personnel losses by 13%," he said.
Syrskyi noted that 2025 was a great test for Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the russian aggressor sought to end the war against Ukraine with a defeat, imposing its conditions from a position of strength, trying to capture the remaining territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia Regions, the right bank of the Kherson Region, and intended to reach Odesa to cut off Ukraine's access to the sea.
"We prevented critical breakthroughs of the enemy, disrupted its plans, repeatedly forced it to postpone the timing of planned operations. We survived. Because our soldiers worked to the limit, with complete dedication, inflicting maximum losses on the occupiers and reducing the enemy army by more than 418,000 people killed and wounded during the year," he said.
Syrskyi noted that due to the effective combat work of the Defense Forces, the enemy has not been able to build up its group for a long time - because every month the Armed Forces of Ukraine kill more russian military than the aggressor country calls up.
"This year has proved that we are able to systematically deplete the enemy and significantly reduce its potential. The Defense Forces did not allow the aggressor to implement its plans, preserved strategic positions and prepared the basis for further actions," the Commander-in-Chief noted.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the total combat losses of the enemy from February 24, 2022 to January 13, 2026 approximately amounted to about 1,220,950 (+ 950 over the past day) people.
The Ukrainian authorities do not publish official statistics on the losses of the Ukrainian military.
