An attempted illegal breakthrough took place on the Ukrainian-Romanian border: the driver of a Range Rover SUV tried to forcefully overcome engineering barriers and take six people abroad. During the incident, he ran into a serviceman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

A border patrol noticed a vehicle with foreign registration moving towards the state border. The driver did not respond to a legal request to stop.
Instead, the driver abruptly changed the direction of movement and drove the vehicle towards the border guards, trying to break through the line of engineering barriers and illegally enter Romania.
As a result of the dangerous maneuver, one of the border guards was seriously injured. The victim was immediately taken to hospital and underwent surgery. His life is currently not in danger.
Later, border guards together with the National Police found an abandoned Range Rover - the vehicle was left on the outskirts of one of the settlements. Six people who were in the car during the attempt to break through the border were detained. The search for the driver is ongoing.
In early January, in Zakarpattia, rescuers and border guards helped a 47-year-old resident of the Poltava Region who got lost in the mountains while trying to illegally cross the border.
