On the night of Friday, January 9, russian troops attacked Kyiv using drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, causing damage and destruction in various areas of the city.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Klitschko wrote that as of this morning, four killed and 24 injured were known. Among the killed was one medical worker, four more were injured, and among the injured were employees of the State Emergency Service.
Some of the wounded were hospitalized, others were provided with assistance on the spot.
Critical infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of the attack, and electricity and water supply disruptions occurred in a number of districts of the capital.
As of 7 a.m., destruction was recorded in the Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Pecherskyi and Holosiivskyi Districts. Multi-storey and private residential buildings, a kindergarten, garage cooperatives, cars and urban infrastructure facilities were damaged.
In particular, in the Darnytskyi District, a drone fell on the courtyard of a residential building, damaging a shop and the glazing of a multi-storey building, and the debris caused fires in residential buildings and garages.
In the Desnianskyi District, a UAV hit the roof of an 18-storey building, causing a fire, fires also broke out in other residential buildings, smoke was recorded in entrances, and the territories of a shopping center and a sanatorium were damaged.
In the Dniprovskyi District, drone debris caused fires in multi-story buildings, partially destroyed the roof of a three-story residential building, and fell on a playground and near a tram depot.
In the Pecherskyi District, falling debris partially destroyed the facade of a nine-story residential building and damaged a non-residential high-rise building.
Currently, police, rescuers, and municipal services continue to document the consequences of the enemy attack and eliminate the destruction.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of the possibility of massive shelling by the russian federation on the night of January 9.
The US Embassy has also warned of the threat of a massive russian air attack on Ukraine.
