In Minneapolis, an agent of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot a woman driving a car during an attempt to detain her. President Donald Trump called the shooting self-defense, while the mayor of the city categorically disagreed with this assessment.
This is reported by Reuters, AP, CBS News.
The shooting occurred on January 7 at about 9:30 am local time in a residential area south of downtown Minneapolis. The scene of the incident is located a few blocks from the old immigrant markets and about a kilometer and a half from the location where police killed George Floyd in 2020.
The video was captured on several police cameras at once, and the incident can be viewed from different angles. ICE agents conducting an anti-immigrant raid try to stop an SUV. One of them grabs the driver's door handle, after which the car starts moving. Another agent gets in front of the car and fires several shots into the windshield. The car continues to move and, apparently, crashes into parked cars.
ICE has now killed an American citizen in Minneapolis.

You can deny all you want, yet the woman was leaving the scene (she probably panicked)
She didn't touch the officer. Stop lying

Who was the woman who was shot in Minneapolis
According to media reports, the driver was Renee Nicole Macklin Good, 37, a US citizen and mother of a six-year-old child. On her social networks, she called herself a poet, writer, wife and mother from Colorado. Democratic Senator from Minnesota Tina Smith confirmed that the deceased was a US citizen. The woman's mother, Donna Ganger, told reporters that her daughter had nothing to do with the protests against ICE.
After the incident, Donald Trump publicly stated that the driver resisted, obstructed the work of agents and allegedly deliberately ran over an ICE officer. According to him, the shooting looks like an act of self-defense. Trump also criticized the woman who filmed the incident and shouted at the agents, calling her a "professional agitator."
The US Department of Homeland Security characterized the incident as an "act of domestic terrorism." The department said that the deceased allegedly participated in riots against ICE and used the car as a weapon against law enforcement officers.
What is the version of the US Department of Homeland Security
The department claims that law enforcement officers were conducting a lawful operation during which one of the cars got stuck due to difficult weather conditions. During attempts to move it, a "crowd of agitators" appeared and began to block their actions. The SUV driver allegedly obstructed the officers, ignored demands to get out of the car, and then tried to run over the agent. The department called it an attempt to murder or cause serious injury.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey sharply criticized the position of the federal authorities. He stated that the video footage of the shooting directly contradicts the claims of self-defense on the part of the ICE agent.

Why are there protests against ICE in the US
In the evening of the same day, a crowd of thousands gathered at the site of the woman's death. People brought candles and chanted slogans against the activities of ICE. Protests also took place outside Minnesota: in New York, hundreds of people took to Foley Square, protesting what they said was a violent escalation of ICE tactics. The demonstrators marched for several hours near the federal immigration service building, after which they returned to the square.
Can’t sleep. Everyone is upset about Minneapolis. My eldest son just sent me photos/videos from the vigil for Renee (he lives there). pic.twitter.com/SL70JLaXVH

Recall, the Donald Trump administration has introduced new rules that allow American consulates to deny visas to foreigners due to obesity and other chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, or mental health problems.
