Ukraine increases electricity imports by more than 50% in December

In December, compared to November, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 53% to almost 640,000 MWh.

It was announced in the ExPro publication, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

This figure is a record high in 2025.

The report says that Hungary continues to account for the largest share in the structure of electricity imports, 41% of all volumes, followed by Slovakia with 21%.

In general, supplies increased in all directions, except for Moldova.

In December, imports from Moldova decreased by almost 25%.

Imports of electricity from Poland increased significantly, by 85% - to 114,000 MWh.

Compared to December 2024, Ukraine increased imports of electricity by 48% - from 431,000 to 640,000 MWh.

Record imports were recorded in June 2024 - 858,000 MWh.

In general, in 2025, Ukraine imported 3.3 million MWh, which is 24% less than in 2024.

It is noted that in December 2025, Ukraine did not export electricity.

Deliveries abroad have been completely stopped since November 11.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in November, compared to October, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 15% to 415,000 MWh.

Electricity exports in November 2025 decreased by 94%.
