On New Year's Eve in the Poltava Region, three people found themselves trapped on Dnieper: their boat got stuck in the ice. The incident occurred in the village of Hradyzk on the night of January 1. According to the State Emergency Service, a boat with a company of people was in the floodplain of the river approximately 200 meters from the shore.
The call to the Rescue Service was received at 11:48 pm on December 31, 2025. One of the men managed to reach the shore on his own through the ice and reported a dangerous situation. Another man also tried to get out, but fell through the ice and, due to severe exhaustion, began to call for help.
Employees of the Hradyzk local fire department used a rope to remove him from the ice approximately 50 meters from the shore.
A woman remained in the boat. Rescuers used a hovercraft to evacuate her.
"Rescuers reached the boat, transferred the woman to the hovercraft and safely delivered her to shore," the State Emergency Service reported.
All victims were rescued, and there was no information about the threat to their lives.
As a reminder, the State Emergency Service warned of critical danger in the Carpathians, urging people to refrain from hiking.
