National Bank sells record-breaking USD 4.5 billion on interbank market in December

In December 2025, the National Bank's net sale of currency amounted to USD 4.460 billion, which is 54% more than the volume of net sales in November (USD 2.887 billion).

This is evidenced by NBU data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In December, the NBU almost did not buy currency, but sold USD 4.461 billion. This is a record figure in 2025.

For comparison: in November 2025, the National Bank's net sale of currency amounted to USD 2.887 billion, which is 1% less than the volume of net sales in October (USD 2.915 billion).

In October 2025, the National Bank's net sale of currency amounted to USD 2.915 billion, which is 27.3% more than the net sale in September (USD 2.290 billion).

In September 2025, the National Bank's net sale of currency amounted to USD 2.290 billion, which is 15% less than the net sale in August (USD 2.697 billion).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, the National Bank sold USD 35.1 billion in currency.

It was previously reported that the National Bank introduced managed exchange rate flexibility from October 3, 2023. The NBU abolished all currency restrictions for the import of works and services and allowed the repatriation of "new" dividends.
