Earlier, on December 26, the East military grouping claimed that Ukrainian forces were holding their positions in Myrnohrad and that additional forces and means were being deployed to defend the city. On December 27, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially denied russia's statements about the alleged capture of Huliaipole, Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk, stressing that the occupiers were not able to implement plans to capture the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andrii Kovalenko, also said that the russian federation's reports about its control over Myrnohrad, Huliaipole and Stepnohirsk are disinformation aimed primarily at the Western information space.
Meanwhile, on December 28, the Joint Forces Group said that the cleanup of Kupiansk, Kharkiv Region, could last for several more weeks. There are still small "pockets" in the city where the blocked occupiers are hiding.
