President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to withdraw its troops, but this will be done only if the aggressor country russia takes mirror actions.

According to RBC-Ukraine, citing an article by The Financial Times (FT), Zelenskyy said this during a phone conversation with European leaders.

The FT's sources said that during the conversation, Zelenskyy made it clear that Ukraine is ready to withdraw troops to create a demilitarized zone, but only if russia agrees to a similar step.

Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine is waiting for clearer security guarantees that will determine the actions of the allies in case the aggressor country violates the peace agreement.

The interlocutors of the publication added that the President of Ukraine emphasized the importance of stable funding for the Ukrainian army, the development of Ukrainian air defense capabilities and the presence of European forces in Ukraine.

At the same time, Zelenskyy questioned russia's full readiness to compromise. In this regard, he hopes that Europe and the United States will put pressure on moscow to force it to make a deal.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, today, December 28, US President Donald Trump said that a few hours before meeting with Zelensky, he had a "good" phone conversation with russian dictator vladimir putin.

Last Friday, December 26, Zelenskyy said in an interview with Axios that the United States offered Ukraine a security guarantee agreement for a period of 15 years.
