A legislative initiative has appeared in the United States that would make it impossible to name government facilities after the incumbent president. The reason was the high-profile story with the addition of Donald Trump's name to the name of the Kennedy Center in Washington.

The document proposes to ban naming or renaming any federal buildings, land plots or other government assets in honor of the incumbent president.
The bill was initiated by Democratic Congresswoman April McClain. In addition, she submitted a separate proposal that would cancel the decision to add Donald Trump's name to the official name of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
What is the Kennedy Center, which Trump wants to rename
The Kennedy Center is a national cultural institution and is intended as a "living memorial" to the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. The institution opened in September 1971, and since then it has become one of the main venues for theatrical productions, concerts and other artistic events.
In addition, the Kennedy Center serves as the permanent residence of the National Symphony Orchestra of the United States and the Washington National Opera.
In December, the White House announced that the board of directors of the Center unanimously supported changing the name of the institution to the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. The presidential administration explained this decision by Trump's contribution to the reconstruction of the building.

At the same time, the initiative has caused sharp criticism from Democrats. John F. Kennedy's niece, Kerry Kennedy, said that Donald Trump's name will be removed from the Center's name immediately after the end of his presidential term.
