18 war criminals, who tortured civilians in Kupyansk, served with suspicions - Defense Intelligence

Law enforcement officers served suspicions to 18 war criminals involved in the torture of civilians during the occupation of Kupyansk (Kharkiv Region) in 2022. This is stated in the message of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.

Thus, it is reported that from March to September 2022, during the occupation of Kupyansk, criminal group, which included representatives of the armed forces of the aggressor state of russia and collaborators, organized a torture chamber in the building of the district police station.

With the assistance of the Defense Intelligence, investigators of the National Police of Ukraine established the names of 18 war criminals and served them with suspicions.

The criminal group included: Babarykin I.P., Borisenko V.L., Borisenko V.D., Blagodatsky O.V., Mints S.S., Kulyk M.O., Vergeles S.V., Kalashnikov V.V., Klochkov O.S., Lypovy S.A., Lisnyak E.A., Lichman Y.V., Luzhetsky D.Ya., Maleev E.V., Serdyuk A.S., Shabunin V.I., Shtets V.Y., Gura D.O.

The investigation established that the above-mentioned war criminals illegally deprived civilians of the Kupyansk community of their liberty and held them in a torture chamber, where they conducted interrogations using violence and inhuman torture.

90 Ukrainians suffered from the torturers' abuse. According to information available to law enforcement officers, war criminals held at least 150 people in the torture chamber. It is known for certain about two citizens tortured to death. Another 10 people are considered missing.

"Within the framework of interagency cooperation, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has transferred to colleagues from the National Police a list of over 500 names of people who were in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv Region in 2022. The investigation is ongoing," the intelligence service noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed an FSB agent in Kyiv who tried to eliminate an officer of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
