Six people killed in road accident in Poland, five of them Ukrainians - media

On December 23, a road accident occurred in Zielęciny near Brzeg (Poland), as a result of which six people were killed. Five of the deceased were presumably citizens of Ukraine, and a 59-year-old resident of Brzeg also was killed. This was reported by the Polsatnews publication.

Thus, it is reported that the fatal road accident occurred at the intersection of two national roads. Under circumstances that remain unclear, a head-on collision occurred between a Ford Kuga driven by a Pole and a Volkswagen Passat.

As a result of the collision, the Volkswagen caught fire. The Ford driver and five people in the Passat died at the scene.

According to a spokesman for the Opole prosecutor's office, information was received that Ukrainian citizens were in the Volkswagen. DNA tests will probably be needed to establish their identities. An autopsy will be scheduled for Monday.

It is noted that the local prosecutor's office will not comment on the course and causes of the accident until the appointed expert for the reconstruction of the accident completes his work.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of December 16, a bus with 11 passengers from Ukraine overturned near Bratislava in Slovakia. For unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the road and then overturned on its side.
