Russia, which has been trying to seize Ukraine for almost four years, has found itself in a difficult economic situation.
This was stated by the head of the White House, Donald Trump, in an interview with Politico on the eve of a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Their economy is in a difficult state, a very difficult state," the American President said.
In early December, the russian Ministry of Finance reported an increase in the budget deficit for January-November 2025 to RUB 4.276 trillion rubles, which is 11.8 times more than for the same period last year.
Trump also said that he was going to have another conversation with russian president vladimir putin in the near future and would talk to him "as much as he wants." "I think everything will go well with putin (as well as with Zelenskyy - ed.)" he noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Friday, it became known that Zelenskyy is going to meet with Trump about ending the war with russia at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on December 28.
According to the Ukrainian President, he will bring with him an updated draft of a 20-point peace plan. The document includes the creation of a demilitarized zone in Donbas, and the meeting is expected to be devoted to security guarantees from the United States.
Trump himself in an interview, however, did not show enthusiasm for the last point.
"He will have nothing until I approve it. So let's see what he has," the White House head said.
However, he expressed hope that the meeting with Zelenskyy will be productive.
