Ukrainian civilians released from captivity will receive UAH 50,000 aid - Svyrydenko

Ukrainian civilians released from russian captivity will receive a one-time aid in the amount of UAH 50,000. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Released Ukrainian civilians who were illegally deprived of their freedom by russia will receive a one-time aid in the amount of UAH 50,000," she said.

A person can submit an application to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development; a certificate from the Joint Center for Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War and Persons Illegally Deprived of Their Liberty as a Result of Aggression Against Ukraine must be submitted with the application.

Civilians illegally deprived of their liberty, who have returned to the territory of Ukraine on their own, must also provide a document confirming that the person has been recognized as a victim in criminal proceedings, which can be obtained from law enforcement agencies.

The relevant resolution comes into force on January 1, 2026.

Civilians released from russian captivity, regardless of the fact being established of deprivation of personal liberty as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine, receive basic necessities: food, hygiene products, seasonal clothing and footwear, and are also entitled to free legal, medical, and social assistance.

At the same time, the state continues to pay for those released from captivity and the families of prisoners who were found to have been deprived of their liberty as a result of russia's armed aggression against Ukraine: UAH 100,000 is provided once upon release and the same amount for each year of captivity.

As of today, such assistance has already been paid to 12,000 people in the amount of about UAH 1.2 billion, of which UAH 359 million is a one-time assistance after release, and UAH 818.7 million is an annual assistance.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in February, the Cabinet of Ministers granted a deferment from mobilization for civilian prisoners.
