Google will allow to change Gmail address without creating new account

Google is preparing to launch a new feature that will allow users to change their email address with the @gmail.com domain while keeping their current account. Previously, changing the address required registering a new account.

This is stated on the Google support page, Business Standard reports.

After the update, users will be able to choose a new Gmail name without losing access to their data and services. The old email address will become additional: letters sent to both it and the new email will arrive in one mailbox.

You can log in to Google services - including Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Drive and Google Play - from either address. The company assures that all data will be saved, and new users will not be able to register using someone else's previous address.

At the same time, after changing the email address, it will not be possible to edit or delete it for a year. In total, one account will be able to change the Gmail address no more than three times. Google also warned that some outdated services may temporarily display your old email address.

The feature will be rolled out gradually, so it may not be available to all users at the same time. You can change your address through the settings in the "My Account" section.

As a reminder, OpenAI has allowed ChatGPT users to customize the chatbot's characteristics so that it communicates with them in a warmer or more business-like style.
