In order to provide Ukrainians with the Internet even in the absence of electricity, the Points of Invincibility are switching to Starlink or xPON. The Ministry of Digital Transformation has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The government is changing the rules of operation of the Points of Invincibility to ensure that every Ukrainian stays connected even during blackouts. Now each point is required to have a non-volatile Internet connection via xPON technology or Starlink terminals. This ensures that despite the power outage, you will be able to call your family, use public services and receive important news from the SESU," the statement said

The Ministry notes that the difficult situation with electricity in Odesa has confirmed that during blackouts people critically need access to the network, but it is not always available at the points, when the connection is lost, the state often learns about it from complaints in social networks, not from the system.

From now on, the Points of Invincibility will have either xPON fiber optic internet (which works without power for up to 72 hours) or Starlink satellite connection (which helps out where there are no cable networks).

Each point will have its own digital address, which will allow to automatically check the network operation at a particular point, if the connection is lost, it will be seen and reacted to.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December, Odesa declared a state-level emergency amid russian attacks on energy facilities.

The Points of Invincibility are specially equipped places for Ukrainians during power outages, where there is heat, water, internet, electricity, tea, coffee and communication facilities.
