The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced that fintech bank Revolut will not close accounts for Ukrainian refugees in the EU.

This is stated in the message of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Revolut has decided to stop providing services and servicing bank accounts of clients - residents of Ukraine, opened through Revolut Bank UAB. At the same time, Revolut will continue to service the accounts of Ukrainians residing and officially registered in the countries of the European Economic Area," the regulator said.

The NBU said that it is open to a regulatory dialogue with Revolut and welcomes any duly authorized form of the company's presence in the financial market of Ukraine.

The future model of presence in the Ukrainian market will be determined directly by the company itself, taking into account Ukrainian regulatory requirements and the list of services to be provided to Ukrainian consumers.

The National Bank emphasized that it will ensure prompt consideration of the authorization package prepared in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation.

As part of the regulatory dialogue, the company was provided with comprehensive explanations on possible authorization mechanisms.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Revolut Fintech Bank, which was founded in 2015 by Russian Nikolai Storonsky and Ukrainian Vlad Yatsenko, said it would start closing accounts for Ukrainians.

Later, the National Bank of Ukraine reported that Revolut Bank had not received any NBU permits to operate in Ukraine.

After that, Revolut temporarily suspended the registration of new clients from Ukraine.
