CEC resumes work of State Voter Register

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has resumed the work of the State Voter Register for the first time since the full-scale invasion. This was reported by the head of the Servant of the People faction, Davyd Arakhamia, on the Telegram channel.

"This, in fact, paves the way for the resumption of the CEC's interaction with citizens and authorities in terms of working with the register and, as a result, its updating. Updating the voter register is one of the basic conditions for holding any elections. The war has had a strong impact on demographic indicators and this should be reflected in the register. There is plenty of work in this direction," he wrote.

As stated in the CEC's message, the voter register ceased functioning on February 24, 2022, in connection with the introduction of martial law in Ukraine and in order to protect personal data, protect against unauthorized access, distortion and destruction of register data.

"Restoring the full functioning of the State Voter Register services is the result of the Commission's systematic and painstaking work, which was implemented in several stages, to strengthen cybersecurity and personal data protection, and the stability of the Commission's electronic systems under martial law. The CEC is working to protect voter data as much as possible and at the same time ensure the openness and accessibility of public information resources," said Serhii Dubovyk, Deputy Chairman of the Commission.

We will remind you that a significant part of the electoral infrastructure was damaged due to the russian war, which is why only 75% of polling stations are currently operating in Ukraine.
