Ukraine should correct its behavior and avoid illegal actions towards China, said Lin Jian, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. This was reported by Ukrinform on Tuesday, December 23.
Lin Jian responded to journalists' requests to comment on President Zelenskyy's statement, which announced the introduction of new sanctions against Chinese companies and citizens that assist russian aggression. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that his country will protect its citizens and companies.
"China consistently opposes unilateral sanctions that violate international law and are not supported by the UN Security Council. The Ukrainian side should correct its behavior and avoid illegal actions towards China in the future," Lin Jian said.
In the event of the introduction of sanctions, China reserves the right to take retaliatory measures, the Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that by the end of the year, Ukraine is preparing several more sanctions against russian entities, as well as those who help russian aggression, in particular, individuals from China.
