The European Commission has transferred to Ukraine a complete set of equipment for a combined heat and power plant (CHPP) from Lithuania, which allowed emergency repairs to be carried out in several regions of Ukraine. This was stated in a message from the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine on Monday, December 22.

The Ministry of Energy noted that the European Commission carried out one of the largest logistics operations, which lasted 11 months. During this time, Ukraine received equipment weighing a total of 2,399 tons in 149 deliveries. In particular, the deliveries included extremely heavy transformers and stators weighing about 172 tons each. Thanks to this equipment, emergency repairs were carried out in several regions of Ukraine, where russian attacks damaged the energy infrastructure.

"We are extremely grateful to our partners from Lithuania, Poland and the entire European community who helped us obtain this critically needed equipment. It helped restore critical energy capacity and strengthen the resilience of the Ukrainian energy system, which, unfortunately, continues to be targeted by russian attacks," said Roman Andarak, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

In total, the European Commission delivered more than 160,000 tons of aid, including the delivery of 9,500 generators and 7,200 transformers to Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 21, the Government instructed all responsible bodies to ensure unconditional implementation of the decision to redirect up to 1 GW of the released energy resource, obtained as a result of the revision of the list of critical infrastructure facilities, for the needs of the population by December 24.
