The Chief of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, named two areas in which Ukraine is critically dependent on US assistance.
He said this in an interview with LB.
So, the first area, according to Budanov, is space imagery - radar and optical. At the same time, there are also two components here.
"First, Ukraine receives access to space imagery from the United States on a free basis, in the form of assistance, and the second direction is contracts. Accordingly, if the United States blocks access to free space imagery, it will not be a critical problem," Budanov said.
"As for optical imaging, it is about 15-17% minus, it is not critical. For radar, it's about 46%: it's difficult, but it's also nothing to worry about. We all like to take a picture of a bush, because we want to look at it through the satellite," he said.
"At the same time, if the United States makes a political decision and blocks the contracts, it will be critical," the DIU Chief said.
"Then we fall to almost zero. We are critically dependent on this factor," the military intelligence officer emphasized.
The second factor, according to Budanov, where Ukraine depends on the United States, is early warning of a ballistic threat
"That's it. The rest is ours," he emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Upper House of the US Congress has finally approved a large-scale bill on the country's defense spending, preserving funding for Ukraine.
The document sets the Pentagon's budget at USD 901 billion and provides, in particular, for financial support for Ukraine in the amount of USD 800 million.
