The United States is temporarily suspending the Diversity Visa Program (DV), better known as the Green Card draw. This decision is related to the shooting at Brown University.
This was announced by US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.
"The Brown University shooter, Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, entered the United States under the immigrant visa program (DV1) in 2017 and received a Green Card. This despicable person should never have been allowed into our country," Noem wrote on the social network X.
According to her, Donald Trump "fought" to end this program back in 2012, especially after the terrorist attack in New York in October 2017, which claimed the lives of eight people. Then it turned out that Sayfullo Saipov, who carried out the attack on people in the name of the terrorist group "Islamic State", arrived in the United States with a "Green Card".
"At the direction of President Trump, I am immediately ordering the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to suspend the DV1 program to ensure that this disastrous program does not harm any American," Noem added.
Recall that in November of this year, US President Donald Trump published a long message regarding immigrants and migration policy in the country after the shooting in Washington. In it, he declared his intention to permanently stop migration from "all third world countries".
